Short biography of Friedrich Tieber



Friedrich Tieber started in endoscopic business in 1966 at Alfred Schiller/former Josef Leiter, Vienna. He moved in 1972 to Puchheim / Bavaria and became neighbour of Norbert Lemke, a genious televison ingeneer, who designed first useable mini-camera system for endoscopic visualization in combination with a monitor. Norbert Lemke can be identified as a hidden champion, who influenced endoscopy in an uncredible manner. He was from 1980 for nearly two decades OEM supplier for Karl Storz Endoscopy. Friedrich Tieber supported Norbert Lemke during first steps in medical business.

In 1991 Friedrich Tieber joined Danek Inc., a US-based company for spinal implants and spinal endoscopes. The Foraminoscope was designed by the surgeon Hal Matthews. Dr. Thomas Hoogland, a weelknown dutch spinal surgeon used this system first in Europe.

In 1997 Friedrich Tieber joined Karl Storz Endoscopy and became Marketing Manager for spine and neurosurgery, worldwide. He promoted Prof. Hans Jörg Leu, Zürich, who started at an early stage with Prof. Schreiber with percutaneous disc procedures, the foundament of foraminoscopy. Together with Karl Storz, he developed in 1990 an advanced foraminoscope which was presented successfully by Friedrich Tieber during work shop activities.

In 2006 Friedrich Tieber continued in spinal endoscopy at Blazejewski MEDI-TECH, Germany, the OEM producer for joi-max, Karlsruhe. Dr. Hoogland developed together with Mr. Blazejewski in 1998 a well designed Foraminoscope
